Since the Apps don't have (yet) access to the Apple Watch Gyroscope, you can't do that.

However, for many years, there have been such apps for the iPhone.

I've purchased and tried many of those apps. I'd say the best app is "Sleep Cycle alarm clock", by NorthCube AB, and the 2 best free apps are "MotionX 24/7" by MotionX and "Sleep Time", by Azumio.

Of course, feel free to try others, but these would be my recommandation.

    Hope this answers.

there is an alarm app on the watch - its the icon that looks like an alarm clock or you can ask Siri to

Open Alarm app - force touch the screen to set an alarm - once set there is a toggle to turn it on or off

I'll give it a try.  Again, I want an alarm that wakes me in my light sleep mode. Thanks!

The built in alarm will not do that. It will simply go off at the time you've set it. The Apple Watch, at this time, has no way to track sleep. As noted above, there are a number of iPhone apps that will do what you need.

Thanks! I wondered if it was just a plain alarm or a sleep tracker.

At this time, the Apple Watch doesn't do any sleep tracking. I'm still using my UP band for that.
