Q: Upload to icloud library not really happening

I've just set-up the icloud library (i.e. by selecting this as my preference). I am getting the uploading screen but it seems to be uploading very very slowly. I have about 7000 items and it has only uploaded about 1000 in five full days on being on constantly The progress bar is not moving. Note:

1. I have selected the option to retain the original in the iCloud and do have alot of small mini videos

2. I am also doing this for mum on a completely separate account with separate photos/videos - and getting the same issue. She has 1200 items and it has uploaded only 15 this entire day tody

3. I have tried it on my third WiFi now, so I am not sure it can be a slow WiFi

 

Can anyone help? Am I doing something wrong? Is this slow upload speed normal?

Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.3.7)

    I understand that your photos are taking some time to all show in your iCloud Photo Library. This can be normal depending on the size of your library.

    When do photos and videos upload to iCloud Photo Library?

    When you turn on iCloud Photo Library on your iOS device or Mac, your photos and videos will upload after you connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi and your battery is charged. You can see the status and pause the upload for one day when you follow these steps:

    • On your iOS device, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos.
    • On your Mac, click Photos > Preferences > iCloud.

    Depending on your Internet connection speed, the time it takes for your photos and videos to appear on the Photos app on iCloud and all of your devices might vary. Make sure you turn on iCloud Photo Library on each device. 

     

    The iCloud Photo app allows you to upload JPEG photos that are less than 16GB in size.
