Q: "This apple ID has not yet been used with the app store."

Hello. I've created an Apple ID accout on the apple.com website so I can use the app store to update or download apps. However, when I tried to do that, the app store displayed a message saying, "This apple ID has not yet been used with the app store." To quote http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2589, "If you already have an Apple ID, you can easily use it at the iTunes Store or Mac App Store. You already have an Apple ID if you bought something at the Apple Store, registered your product online, or used the My Apple ID page." I am very confused, because I know for sure that I have bought a MacBook Pro (10.8.4) in Hong Kong some weeks ago. Here is a procedure of my attempt to get XCode:

1. I wish to get XCode

2. I enter my Apple ID and password just as I do to log in to apple.com

Screen Shot 2013-09-18 at 6.49.23 PM.png

3. ???

Screen Shot 2013-09-18 at 6.49.38 PM.png

So what is the meaning behind this? Do I restart my computer? Is it because I bought my MacBook Pro in Hong Kong that I must register an Apple ID in the Hong Kong Apple website (which, in my personal opinion, is a bit absurd)? What do I do? Please help.

Many thanks.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Whether you want paid or free content, you still have to follow the on screen instructions and set up an iTunes account with your Apple ID.

I went through same process. Apparently you cannot go in without giving your credit card information. So here is one trick.

Go in with your original id when it asks for review.

Enter your card information and create the account

Open itunes and go in to your account.

Your card will be mentioned there. Edit information and remove card.

Card information is not saved anymore and account is created. No need to do anything else.

    Hello,

I have an Apple ID that was issued by my work. They just issued an iPad. I am now trying to go through the steps of setting up the App Store on the iPad. (I have set up 3 of my own iPads, so I know the process. Something is wrong for some reason) I am also getting the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store" with a Cancel or Review button choice. Clicking Review brings up Account Settings where I choose United States, Next, then Accept the Terms and Conditions.

The next window that opens is a window that wants an Email Address that says "This will be your new Apple ID", the password, A single security question that I must type, and birthdate.

If I choose my work Apple ID, it says it is an existing ID and goes into a loop where I get the same window over and over.

Creating a new ID isn't a choice. My Apple ID must be the work issued ID with the my-work-email@address.com

    It cannot be anything different.

If I try to do the same thing on a computer, it gives me an error saying I have not entered the email address.

My Apple ID profile has both the proper work email and a rescue email address entered.

Not sure what else to do. I'm sure work can assist, but, I was hoping to find an answer here.

    Thanks.

    jtomaszewski solution works!

If during system installation, after clicking "Review" in  alert, nothing happened:

    1) Install ITunes on different machine f.e. Windows or Mac.

    2) Login to installed ITunes  using Apple ID.

    3) Fill required fields, You must enter your credit or debit cart. (I think You can remove it later.)

    4) Run again system installation, after typing Apple ID alert will not be shown and installer will start downloading files.

    Thanks, You save my day

I had a problem in which I was stuck trying to setup the apple id with the app store. It was telling me to contact support all the time.

In case anyone else has this problem, I solved it by manually opening iTunes and logging in it.

    Hi..bzischarles

You need to click on review link after showing message that this apple ID is not used before. On click review you will be redirect to new page of your apple ID and ask to fill up some remaining information like payment or credit card. First fill up all details and verify your payment method. After that you able to purchase from app store.

THAT doesn't work for everyone. I click through everything & even enter a valid credit card, HOWEVER, I then get an error message & am back where I began.

Apple first need to verify your payment method to fully access app store. so first click on review button and proceed to next steps.

you need to add your payment method first. its doesn't affect your bank account or apple account here is the different way to add payment method

Payment methods you can use in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support
