Q: Using a Headset for Mic and Headphones
Hi. What is the solution when I want to use my headset on my MacBook pro and the mac only has one jack input and my headset has one mic jack and one headphone jack? Do I need to buy some kind of an adapter? Can anyone advise? And it does need to be the headset. I'm doing many interviews that need to be recorded and so I need the quality to be good and not the internal mic. Thanks.

Based purely upon the product description, this is the kind of adapter you need, I suppose.
I am not recommending this one, because I do not own one of these, nor have I tested this type of adapter with a headset to see that it actually works on a "1-jack Mac"
UPDATE: Note that the mini-plug has 4 distinct metal bands - that is what is needed to get both mic and headphone signals into your Mac.
I point this out because the cheap 'Y'-adapters with just 3-bands on the mini-plug are designed to share 2 sets of headphones and will NOT supply the mic input that you need.
