Q: Have NTFS files I need to save - help!
Hi folks!
Ex-Windows user here just making the leap to a new Macbook Pro. I have a 2T external hard drive chock-full of photos and stuff accumulated during my years as a Windows machine user. Now that I've taken the plunge, I'm finding it frustrating discovering a way to access these files again. Every search I've done to find a resolution has resulted in nothing but methods and instructions of reformatting the hard drive so that it can accept FAT32 files. That's great and all, but I don't want to lose the files that I have. I purchased a program from Paragon that claims to allow my Mac to read the files on the hard drive, but that hasn't worked at all.
My thinking now is, get a FAT32 external hard drive and just move the files over. Except... I can't find anything that will do that, either!
So if anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. If there's software or even some sort of device that will accomplish this, that would be fantastic. I briefly read something about using an Ethernet cable to connect a windows machine and the Macbook to accomplish this, but the article was technically way above my head and I couldn't figure that out at all, especially since I'm brand-spanking new to Apple's OS and a lot of familiarity was required.
Thanks in advance!
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
