Q: how can you tell which security updates have been loaded on one's machine.  Took this one out of storage MacBook core 2 due 2.1 Mhz OS 10.6.8

I have taken out an old Macbook using OS 10.6.8.   I don't know if all the updates including security updates have been loaded.  Receipts only show boxes for my Brother all-in-one.   Software update shows no updates needed.   Wonder if that works with now unsupported OSs.   How do I find out.  Don't want to try to load the updats if already have.  Thanks

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Early 2008 2GB memory 120 GB HD

Hold down the option/alt key while selecting the  menu. Select the top choice and then look under Software/Installations.

Thanks for the suggestion but did not work.   Using option key brings up System Profiler.   Under Software is Applications not Installations.  And under applications there is no listing of Security Updates or System Updates.

Hi, you could run software update and see what security updates are recommended. It's the one before the first listed probably. Can't remember what order they list in Software Update.

Thanks for the suggestion.   The first thing I ran is Software Update.   Doesn't advise any update.  I am just wondering if now that Snow Leopard is not supported, that the Software Update doesn't work.   Also I notice there is only one receipt in the receipt folder, for my Brother all-in-one printer.  On older versions of OS X by looking in the receipt folder one would find what one downloaded, including Security Updates and Software (System) Updates.   Nothing here so not know if they were all loaded.  That is why I am looking for some way to check.  Thanks.

I run 10.6.8 on my laptop, and still get Software Update downloads. Yours must have all the Security Updates for 10.6. Are you updated to 10.6.8? Might be a few left for 10.6.8. I don't get Security Updates anymore since Snow is not supported.

I do use 10.6.8 on my MacBook.   Early 2009 core 2 duo 2.1 Mhz.  I don't know if past security updates have been loaded.   I did manually reload the last year (2013) updates, not the earlier year.  But it would be nice to have a list of the downloads on your Mac to be sure.   On the old OSs they did have that in receipts.   Not now.   Just hopefully adding the last year worth will put in all the fills.   One of the problem with security updates is they update not just the system but also apple apps.   Also cannot tell if all the system updates for 10.6.8 have been added,...for the same reason.   If there is a way to see what the laundry list is, would be useful.   If your not the only one using a Mac or had it in storage for a number of years, your not sure you have added all the updates.  Just because Software Update shows no update, after not using the machine for years and it is for updates to a vintage (not supported) OS may mean that the program is not showing updates you should have.  Thanks

Best I could find was here. Do a find on the web page for 10.6, then read each update's specifics.
