Jun 23, 2015 4:06 AM in response to B radleyby R C-R,You do this with iTunes, not Photos. See Sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch in iTunes - Apple Support for detailed info about how to do this. In the "If your photos are in an app" section, you should be able to choose the Photos app, & either sync all your photos or selected albums, so if you just want to copy some of them to the iPhone, in Photos create one or more albums specifically for that purpose.
I do something similar, using a single album with the not very original name "iPhone Pix 1."

Jun 23, 2015 4:27 AM in response to B radleyby léonie,Hi Ive just got a new iPhone 6 and want to migrate some of my photo albums from my macbook pro to my iPhone but can't seem to find any option to do this!!
In addition to syncing with iTunes you can use iCloud Photo Library to transfer selected photos to your iPhone or Shared Albums.
- To publish an album as a Shared album select the photos in the album and press the Share button, and then iCloud Photo Sharing. Share the album to yourself. See: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support
Shared albums do not count against your iCloud storage. - To sync your photos using iCloud Photo Library create a second photo library, add the photos you want to sync to your iPhone, and then enable this library as iCloud Photo Library. You will need enough free iCloud Storage to hold all photos.
See these Help pages: Use multiple libraries and What is iCloud Photo Library?
- To publish an album as a Shared album select the photos in the album and press the Share button, and then iCloud Photo Sharing. Share the album to yourself. See: iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support
