Q: Excel allows you to hide a page within a workbook.   How do I hide a page with in a Numbers workbook?

I have copied a workbook from Excel over to Numbers.   Im now working within the work book ad would like to hide some pages within the workbook.   How do I do that in Numbers?  I see you can hide rows and columns, but can't seem to hide a page.  Excel allows you to do this.

Neither Excel nor Numbers have "pages".  You can hide a sheet in Excel, but AFAIK you can't hide a sheet in Numbers.

If you feel strongly about this feature you could tell Apple via Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback in your menu.

Start a list of the functions missing from Numbers, decide for yourself how long it can get before switching to Excel.

Hey Csound1, no trolling here, please.  Some people need a truck, while most do well with a car.  There's room for both on the road.  These discussions here are about how to make the best use of a particular car.

Just stating the obvious, at some point Numbers lack of features will make it worthwhile changing to a spreadsheet that meets the users requirements rather than requiring the user to change his requirements to match Numbers.

    Trolling?  get over yourself.

Yes, indeed, obvious.  Those who need features that Numbers does not have should use another tool. If a truck is needed, get a truck.

But the many who don't need those particular features may find Numbers an attractive environment.  It's not a truck, but it's a deceptively capable car.

It would be nice to hear more from you about "how to use Numbers" rather than the beating of the "just use something else" drum.

I would rather poke Apple until they put such basic features back in Numbers, clearly YMMV.

    Hi Black Diamond Builders,

If you are still there after our troll gave you useless advice. You can't hide a sheet, but you can drag the sheet tab to the far right of the tab bar, where it is less obtrusive.

    Regards,

    Ian.

    Still averse to facts?

The OP asked how to hide a sheet in Numbers, this is not a feature that Numbers offers. A simple answer to a simple question. Pretending that moving the sheet to the right is equivalent to hiding it is nonsense. Either the OP (as he says) wants to hide it, or he doesn't.

Your definition of trolling is mis-aimed, I post the truth.

    Csound1

And where is the OP? I have noticed that trolls scare off OPs. Simple question on using Numbers for Mac:

would like to hide some pages within the workbook

    Simple answer: You can't.

Better answer: But you could try this.

    Deriding Numbers does not help.

And calling anyone who is not as devoted to Numbers as much as you a troll does?

    Don't waste my time.

    Hi Csound,

"I would rather poke Apple until they put such basic features back in Numbers, clearly YMMV."

    Numbers>Menu>Provide Numbers Feedback

If that is what you want to do.

I don't think you are poking Apple on this user forum. You are trolling us.

The OP wants to hide a sheet, something that even free spreadsheets can manage, but Numbers can't.

The answer to his question is (simply put) you can't. One solution to his problem is to use another spreadsheet. Even the ones that cost nothing have a better feature set, even the previous version of Numbers had a better feature set.

True, but hasn't that point been pretty well covered?

One solution to his problem is to use another spreadsheet.

And that one's also been well covered.

Even the ones that cost nothing have a better feature set,

Better for whom? I've tried a few. They were unusable on mobile devices.

even the previous version of Numbers had a better feature set.

Better in some ways, but worse in other respects. The previous version of Numbers doesn't hide sheets either. Hiding sheets is, after all, the feature we're discussing here.

It's great that you've helped so many people in these forums.  It would be nice if you could lend your expertise in showing how to use Numbers, rather than just suggesting that people not use it.

Although the OP's question is about desktop rather than mobile devices the mobile version of Excel is as competent as the desktop version, i.e. significantly superior to all versions of Numbers, even on an iPad. And a lot cheaper. So thanks for bringing that up, even though you were once again trying to obfuscate the field.

It would be nice if you could lend your expertise in showing how to use Numbers

I am not here to 'lend my expertise" to a mediocre program like Numbers, and as I am as entitled to an opinion as you are I will say so. Perhaps you should examine the mania behind your whitewashing over Numbers limitations.
