Q: upgrade

My Mac Mini is upgraded with a Core2duo processor and has 2gb of ram and has OS X 10.6.8 why cant I install Yosemite ?

    Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against Macmini3,1, which is the earliest Mac mini that can run Mountain Lion and newer; the difference is whether or not the computer has a 64-bit EFI.

     

    In any case, you should install more RAM in the computer before upgrading the OS.

    i have the ram but its 1,1 how do i flash the firmware for 3,1?

    You cannot. Your computer isn't compatible with Mountain Lion or newer.

     

    You should have more than the mimimum amount of RAM for an OS installed in the computer before upgrading to it.
