Jun 24, 2015 4:46 PM in response to JL121588by Niel,Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against Macmini3,1, which is the earliest Mac mini that can run Mountain Lion and newer; the difference is whether or not the computer has a 64-bit EFI.
In any case, you should install more RAM in the computer before upgrading the OS.

You should have more than the mimimum amount of RAM for an OS installed in the computer before upgrading to it.
