Jun 25, 2015 5:18 AM in response to dgfromcpkby Nezvanova666,If you read the various threads dedicated to Photos, you will see that many do, far too many, including myself. A useful advuse given by some commentators is to send your feedback to Apple with the link provided. However, I wonder if Apple reads their own support forums. If they don't, they should. If they do, they might notice that Photos is an even greater disaster than Maps. I hope that heads will roll. It's not that they lack programmers or funds...

Remember, the use of "Photos" is completely optional. If you don't like it you don't have to use it.
A nice photo app similar to iPhoto is "Lyn". I will not provide a link because for some reason Apple deletes it.
Moreover, Lyn can show keywords under thumbnails. Just like Aperture does.

you are right, of course. I don't like like it and I don't use it. I still use iPhoto, while I can. I only fear Apple will eventually discontinue it and leave me stranded with Photos. So, thanks for the tip about Lyn. I'll certainly look it up

Jun 25, 2015 10:34 AM in response to Nezvanova666by Old Toad,A useful advuse given by some commentators is to send your feedback to Apple with the link provided.
Since Apple developers do not peruse these forums the only way to get our feedback to them is thru the links we provide.
The feedback is working as can be seen from the following paragraph in this Apple webpage: Apple OS X El Capitan.
Photos has been fine-tuned to make it even easier to manage your library. Now you can add a location to a single image or to an entire Moment. Naming your favorite people in Faces is faster with a streamlined workflow. You can also sort your albums — and the contents inside them — by date, title, and more.
So rather than waste our time here in the forums with complaints and rants, get after Apple with your requests for those features you'd like to see restored in the next version of Photos.

Jun 25, 2015 10:52 AM in response to Old Toadby Nezvanova666,Thank you. That is useful advice indeed. And, by the way, thank you too for the comparison table between the Photos and IPhoto features. That was most useful. However, one (of many) feature lacking in Photos that does not figure explicitly in your table is precisely the one you mention in your post, namely the possibility of copying and pasting a geotag from one picture to another. So, thanks for having clarified this point

PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND THESE "date, title, and more" SORT OPTIONS - THE ONLY OPTION THAT NORMALLY APPEARS IN MY VIEW MENU IS "KEEP SORTED BY TITLE" CHECKED or NOT CHECKED.
WHERE ARE THE OPTIONS TO SORT BY KEYWORDS, STAR RATINGS, & MANUALLY ?

Jun 27, 2015 12:03 AM in response to léonieby tjmch,THANK YOU FOR THE HELPFUL INFO.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT THE APPLE PHOTO TEAM ADD TO: PHOTOS HELP / search “ADJUSTMENTS PANE” - YOUR IMAGE SHOWING THE EXTRA ADJUSTMENTS VIA THE BIG DISCLOSURE ARROWS TO THE RIGHT OF “AUTO” IN THE “LIGHT” & “COLOR ADJUSTMENTS. (suggestion sent to https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html )

Old Toad has been citing the "El Capitan" preview with the new features of Photos 2.0, to be released this fall. You will see the new sorting option in a few month, when this upgrade comes out. (Apple — OS X El Capitan)

Indeed, the Photos Help is not a full user guide. Apple should add a Photos User Guide that will describe all features in detail. Some features are cleverly hidden.

As I said originally that paragraph is from the webpage I linked to in my last post.

Jun 27, 2015 12:29 PM in response to dgfromcpkby lafoxmd61,I too so far dislike the new Photos app. One of the things I miss from iPhoto is the ability to rename the photos in batches, e.g., all of the photos from one album could be renamed at once, with the number appended to the name. Does anyone know if there is a way to do that in the new Photos app?
One other thing... can iTunes sync photos from the two other apps (Lyn and Media Pro) mentioned in this thread? Thanks.

Jun 27, 2015 12:17 PM in response to lafoxmd61by LarryHN,1 - Tell apple your thoughts - https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html
2 - several users have provided scripts to do selected missing functions - Photos for Mac
