Q: Boot Camp Message = CDBOOT : Couldn't find BOOTMGR

Hi,

I partionned my 32 bit Yosemite Mac OS X, and all work until I try to install my Windows7 32 Bits Professional iso, with my self burned DVD. I use an external LG DVD writer / reader, because my built in optical reader's broken, with my portable Mac.

So I was told that the problem should be with HOW I actually burned the DVD, that it was the only problem at this point...

So know, basically whenever I try to open my Mac, if I do not hold *alt* key while the sound's on, I get a black screen saying something like no driver or something, and if I try to connect with y external LG optical DVD reader with the seemingly bad burnt DVD, it says the message I wrote in the title of this post...

So could someone give me an exact procedure to finally be able to install windows 7 on my computer and play Path of Exile like a boss please?

Thanks!

If you have broken internal Optical drive, you will not be able to install Windows, without a lot of work.

Not sure that's true. First some people confirmed me they do it in same conditions, and furthermore, the machine seem to recognize all right when I plug (or not) the external optical reader drive.

OSX will recognize the Optical drive, but BC Assistant set the booting to be from the internal Optical drive. This is why you see a black screen and/or no bootable device errors. You cannot use BC Assistant. You will have to manually try using the DVD and install it but all your drivers may not work, because the BIOS emulation layer is missing.

So all the ppl telling me that it'd work on n external were wrongs...

I have no clue as what you tell me to do, so I guess I'll have to wait to buy the internal optical drive part and make it installed once I can back from work..

Unless you can help me do what you speak about?

I hope it's not too complicated once you have the iso windows 7?

Since you already have tried this once, the partitioning should already be complete. If you use the LG DVD and power cycle the Mac and hold the Alt key are you able to select the Windows and start the Windows Installer?

Yes. Exactly. So now, all I should have to do, is burn the Windows 7 Pro 32 bits iso I dld (for which I do have the cd key for activation) and install it.

So my question is : how should I do to burn the DVD right this time? The exact procedure and programs or whatever?

Actually, I have to hold the alt key, otherwise it start on the windows black screen installation process. And I also have the boot camp icon in My Computer.

    WHat do I do now?

    Thanks

If you used Disk Utility (Yosemite): Burn a disk image to a CD or DVD to burn DVD, it should work. Use the one you have and try to boot from it using the Alt key.

You first should run the following two procedures

Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

otherwise the current setting will interfere with the installation.

And I also have the boot camp icon in My Computer.

What do you mean by Boot Camp icon? Are you referring to BC Assistant?

I'm not sure about burning the DVD. I did pretty much that first time... I'll try tomorrow and see if that's better this time... Is there an exact procedure to be sure I do everything alright?

About resetting NVRAM, I'll pass, look to dangerous lol

So tomorrow I'll try with another writable DVD and see if that's different this time...

    Thanks for everything, really!

    So to tomorow!

This is the FAT Bootcamp partition that BCA created. It will be converted to NTFS during installation.

Do not use a RW DVD. Use a DVD-R (SL or DL) as necessary.

NVRAM reset is not dangerous. BC Assistant stores variables in NVRAM for Windows installation. If the installation has failed in the past, these variables will interfere with the subsequent attempts.

Ok, because what I'm very afraid, is if I'd already burned my actual DVD R, and he's not badly made...

Can you tell me the exact procedure to be sure there's not something I'd overlook and do second time wrong please?

    Thanks!!

PS : or give me a link that tell'S it...

I SO HOPE this'll work this time, and I'll be able to play Path Of Exile lol

Ok so I inserted the DVD in my LG external optical Drive, this is a Sony DVD-R 4.7 GB Recordable 1x-8x, and it is the same as the one I tried earlier and didn't seem to work, BUT WAS BURNABLE nonetheless.

Here's the result (I even highlighted the DVD icon on my desktop, to further prove the DVD's there)

So what in **** is wrong with this DVD and my DIsk Utility and my LG External Optical Drive?

Oh to specifiy : I'm not entirelly sure, but I think that it is not the same procedure I tried for my first not workable DVD for Windows 10 the first time...

PS : I try burning Windows_7_32-bit_Professional_x86.iso, that's the good file?

Hope you'll help me one more time Thanks!!!Screen Shot 2015-06-26 at 18.33.46.png
