Q: Cant delete a shared album

I have an album that seems to be 'stuck' as in I can't delete it or add/remove people from it.  If I go to people I can't add or remove anyone and if I select edit on the shared photo albums all the other albums show an option to delete album except this one.

How do I delete it?

did you create it? If you did right clicking the album and delete album

Or did someone else? If someone else did right click on the album and unsubscribe

Did you create the shared album on the device where you are currently viewing it?  Even if you created it you may not be shown as the owner, if you created it on an iPhone or iPad with an earlier iOS version.

Are yu shown as the owner of the album?  If not, try deleting on the device where you created the album.o

Yes I am the owner and there is no option to delete the album.  I have tried on every device.

Does the Shared Album still work?  Can you share a photo to the album?

Yes the album works however I can't add/remove people hence why i wanted to remove the album.  it seems 'stuck' as it was when created.  no option to delete it and no ability to add or remove people from the share.

Is your album by any chance a Family Shared Album?   Then you cannot add or remove subscribers, and the Family Shared album cannot be deleted.  That is controlled by Family Sharing.

    Family Sharing

You can also use Family Sharing to keep your family members up to date on all the latest events, important photos, and memorable occasions in your life. When you turn on Family Sharing and set up a family in iCloud preferences in OS X, a shared album is created in Photos. All family members can easily add photos, video clips, and comments to the album, right from Photos. Whenever a family member adds an item or comment, everyone’s devices are updated.

Thanks for solving this problem for me!

I created a shared folder years ago and although I was able to delete the content the empty folder remained. I just found your post and after switching off Family Sharing which I had enabled (but not used) I was able to delete the folder.
