Good morning!
I have searched the internet but couldn't find a solution ..
SNIPI too "searched the internet" - but this time limited Google to ASC discussions...
I suggest looking at these results - I found a couple that are possibly of help...
- Logic Pro X, MainStage 3: Issues installing additional content - Apple Support - 35GB is a LOT, especially without using Ethernet connection
- Downloading 'Essential or Additional Content' or the Logic Pro X app Tips - Our friend > The Art Of Sound < has some comments in the following
- Logic Pro X was not able to complete the download - pay special attention to the LINKS he has posted
- Logic Pro X: Support Resources - Apple Support <== since you just purchased Logic Pro, you should have plenty of time left on your 'warranty' support period
I will ask our Hosts to move this thread to the " Logic Pro " forum, since Using ASC forum is about, well, Using Apple Support Communities

During my search I found the referenced information "Downloading 'Essential or Additional Content' or the Logic Pro X app Tips" and followed most of it before opening this thread.
So, it is not an issue of energy settings, 3rd party firewalls or open apps. There might be an issue with a quite slow internet and unfortunately I have no clue what to do with regards to disk permission, but it seems that nothing is wrong with this.
I must confess that I only use a Mac for Logic and related apps but otherwise - due to ages of using it - work with the PC and therefore I miss some basics for handling a Mac.
My biggest success in this story was to find the phone number of the Apple support service and I was really surprised to have somebody on the line within short. He told me how to stop the repeated and repeated download attempt: start the Mac in the safe mode (not sure this is the correct term as I'm only familiar with the German terms) and then start over again. This helped at least in that the download message disappeared and that the option in the LogicX-Tab-menu "Install additional content" is now not anylonger grey but black. When I clicked on this, no additional content was installed, but when I picked one content, the system asked whether I want to install a package which has already been installed (although it was not marked as "installed"). So I chose to install a package which was said to have 300 MB but when the download started, it showed 4 GB. Again something I don't understand. It took 5 hours which is rather long, even with our slow ethernet line (downloads with the PC are faster ...).
Now I will thoroughly think about which content to download ...
Thanks again for your help and for moving the thread to a better position. I was a little helpless with my first attempt to use this forum.
Great that this forum exists!
Have a nice weekend!

Glad your straightened out - even if you are at a snail's pace. I can help point you to some answers to lingering questions and give you a couple of tools that can be helpful in other things in the process...
"disk permissions" is kind of cryptic to many of us who have been MacHeads for decades. It has to do with file I/O 'read/write' stuff. Occasionally, it is necessary for whatever reason to "Repair" the database(list?) of these critters. This doesn't "say" much, but has a few handy links regarding the Disk Utility.App (Utilities Folder) > Disk Utility (Yosemite): First Aid pane
300MB v. 4GB - sounds a bit excessive to me, but what do I know > Downloading additional content needs extra space in Logic Pro X and MainStage 3 - Apple Support
download speed (or lack thereof) - Apple servers MAY limit the bandwidth that any particular user session is allotted - many other sites do this. It is a prophylactic way of preventing server congestion/overload (they seem to think). Whenever I do a large download, I usually fire up Activity Monitor. app and choose the Network TAB > Use Activity Monitor on your Mac - Apple Support - this App is VERY helpful in checking "under the hood" of your Mac if it it is running rough - it can give you way more details than you know what to do with.
Now... go make MUSIC!!
