Q: safari hijack
not sure what happened. safari was working this morning. Now when I open it I get directed to a screen with the address windows.techg.us and a pop up window that says "You are Getting Unauthorised access on your Browsers. Your Network may have been infected. Please call +1-844-482-1735 for immediate support!" when I click on the "okay" button in popup window to close it, it opens again, no matter how many times I try to close it.
I think this is a hack and when I called the number I got suspicious when they asked for my personal information (which I didn't give). Don't know how to rescue my safari. I can't delete it and reload since it's part of OSX. Suggestions?
macBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

You have not been hacked and it probably isn't anything on your computer.
Give this a try:
Start by trying to use the Safari back button ◀︎ to get away from that page.
If that doesn't work, force quit Safari and re-open Safari with the shift key held down.
Choose "Reset Safari..." from the Safari menu to clear the history and cache files of this page.
If you continue to have problems with being re-directed to adware, use the reference that Carolyn gave you.
