Do not use a prompt, Apple will not contact you. A scam uses that method.
A phone number won't be to Apple, and they will want to access your Mac
that usually implies they can access your personal data & it isn't good.
You could start the browser with extensions off, and see about removing the
item from the browser. Some of these affect Chrome, and Safari. A few others
may affect your computer or other device.
This may have some helpful methods of disabling extensions
or removal of adware, etc from Safari:
•Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac - Apple Support
•If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues - Apple Support
But to not call the number and do not pay for this bogus rip-off.
