Q: Boot Camp Message = CDBOOT : Couldn't find BOOTMGR

Hi,

I partionned my 32 bit Yosemite Mac OS X, and all work until I try to install my Windows7 32 Bits Professional iso, with my self burned DVD. I use an external LG DVD writer / reader, because my built in optical reader's broken, with my portable Mac.

So I was told that the problem should be with HOW I actually burned the DVD, that it was the only problem at this point...

So know, basically whenever I try to open my Mac, if I do not hold *alt* key while the sound's on, I get a black screen saying something like no driver or something, and if I try to connect with y external LG optical DVD reader with the seemingly bad burnt DVD, it says the message I wrote in the title of this post...

So could someone give me an exact procedure to finally be able to install windows 7 on my computer and play Path of Exile like a boss please?

Thanks!

Please go to System Report -> Disc Burning when the LG is plugged in and verify what you see. You may want to leave the current "blank" DVD in the drive when you do this.

Could you please tell me exactly how I can go to System Report (which I can assume is in Disk Utility application)? I try googling it and checking in finder or in Disk Utility, and I cannot find what you speak in last message.

    Thanks for everythings as always

You may want to avoid posting the Serial numbers on a public forum.

It looks correct. The Media entries look normal. Can you burn your ISO using the link I provided and post a similar screen shot?

Ok I burned it well (had to deconnect and reconnect the USB port of the LG External Optical Drive for it to activate the Burn button... strangely!)

I worked (parlty)! THe Windows DVD was recognized and the Windows blue screen appeared.

Now, when I tried to install it, with Custom installation (not Upgrade), it showed 4 Disk Partitions.

Disk 0 Partition 1 Total Size 200 mb Free Space 0 mb Type Summary

Disk 0 Partition 2 Total Size 152 gigs Free Space 0 mb Type Summary

Disk 0 Partition 3 Total Size 619 mb Free Space 0 mb Type Summary

Disk 0 Partition 4 Bootcamp Total Size 79,2 gigs Free Space 79,1 gigs Type Summary

And when I tried to select, say, Boot Camp (fourth), it said :

(Triangle with a ! in it Icon) Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space : Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.

NTFS. Ring a bell, you spoke of it earlier... What will I have to do, please?

Also, I may have to re-buy my Windows 7 activation number, it look as if it doesn't exist, so I may have lost 40$ there... Any suggestion where to buy a good Windows 7 32 bits activation number for discount and Who Work, please?

    Thanks

You need to let the Windows installer format Partition 4 (BOOTCAMP) to NTFS. This is an example from an older OSX version without Recovery HD.

    You can try DreamSpark.

Complete installing Windows first. DreamSpark is a retail store for Windows. You can call Microsoft or the retailer who you bought the license from and ask them for a replacement.

    Thanks for tips.

What should I do to "use" Dreamspark? I cannot confirm I'm a student, I think.

And what's more, when I'll have a file to download, what file exactly should I dld and How should I use it, once on the DIsk Partition sequence of Windows 7 installation?

    THanks

The Windows installer does not need any files right now. Can you format and continue the Windows installation? We can worry about Activation code after you have Windows installed properly.

Use System requirements to install Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support to download the BC drivers appropriate for your 2009 MBP and Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers.

I do not work for Apple. Enjoy your PoE and save someone after you get your first kill.

Hi, I still have some questions, please.

First, when I do alt at starting of computer, I have Mac, WIndows and a third selection called Recuperation 10.10.3.

I'd want to remove the third selection of startup, please.

Also, I have a problem with Firefox 30.0.5. Essentially, I keep Refreshing it, and it keep coming back to it same option it had, with add-on slow.

I even tried to erase firefox and reinstall, and it didn't do anything...

    THanks for help (if possible)!!

    1. You should not use Alt Key to switch between the OSes in general. Please see https://support.apple.com/kb/PH17862?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US .

    2. You should not remove the Recovery HD, it will cause problems and also render your Windows in-operational.

    3. Try a different browser (Chrome) and test.
