Q: Photo Stream Not updating

I have an iPhone, iPad and iMac. I have 27 gig of photos on my iMac. I do not want to use iCloud Photo Storage, but I do want to use Photo Stream.

However, I when i take photos on my iPhone (or iPad) They don't always go up to the photo stream. These Photo Streams are all different. I want them to be the same or at least - the most recent photos I've taken or manipulated. I have 68 photos on my iMac in the photo stream. but 648 photos in the Photostream on the iPhone and 485 photo's in the iPad photstream. None of this makes any sense to me and I'm a professional. How do I  get the Photostream to be current and

coordinated on all devices?? Anyone? I d onto want to use iCloud storage for my photos- just the unto 1000 images from Photo Stream is enough for me.

I just go back from vacation (yes i had wifi there) and none of the photos came to my Photo App. This is awful it used to work painlessly before Photos appeared.

Any Advice?

iMac, iOS 8.1, YOSEMITE

On each device the PhotosStream shows the iCloud PS photos (the last 30 days or 1000 photos which ever is smaller) plus the PS photos uploaded from that device - so PS will never be the same on different devices

If PS is not updating to your Mac turn it off in Photos and in the system preferences, reboot the aMac and turn it back on to kick start it

Well, thanks- that helped - but it's still a small subset of the of the photos from ta device and the photos' uploaded to the photostream. Since the photos I have now are kind current I'll see what happens from this point- but this is a quite crappy - since it works perfectly fine in IOS 7/* and Mavericks/Yosemite UNTIL the introduction of Photos (and iCloud photosharing). This is inconsistent behavior now. Unreliable. I've worked helping folks with their Macs and PCs for 20 years and if I can't figure out these inconsistencies How would they be able to? -Anyhow- My imac now only sees 162 photos in the stream. (probably since I started using Photos) - but it completely ignored my other imports (which theoretically should be in the stream) .

    Thanks for your help though!
