Look for a physical button on the outside of the computer; this could either be on the front, on the right side, or on the back depending on the computer.

You might have to read again on how to write a good question.

You supply as much info as you can, since we don't have a crystal ball with us.

Actually, I don't know anything about it.  I'm babysitting my neighbor's iMac (don't ask).  I wrote a much more detailed question earlier but Apple didn't approve of it for some reason.  They didn't say why.  It contained nothing offensive.

    A good question:

    1. What computer/device is about, like make, model, operatiing system.

    2. What issue you are having.

    3. What troubleshooting steps you did.

    4. Search the forum for similar question.

There is a button on the left behind the screen where you can press to start the iMac.

To turn on a recent model of iMac reach around the back left of the computer near the bottom and feel for an indent. This is the power button. Push that button in once and wait for the iMac to start up. You may be required to enter a password to actually access the iMac. To turn off the iMac select the  menu > Shut Down.

Older iMacs may've the button in a different location.
