Q: ipod Airplay issue

Just upgraded to a 5th gen ipod (ios 8.3) and I'm having an issue were the Airplay disconnects when it hasn't been used for a few hours.

My 4th gen ipod (ios 6.1.6) stays connected all the time, and will only disconnect if I turn it, or the airport express off.

This means that I now have to bring up the control centre and reconnect manually, every time I want to use airplay.

Can I make it behave like the 4th gen?

Have you tried resetting your device? This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

Thanks, I'll try it. But the ipod's brand new, so I don't see how it will help.

Didn't work. Went out for an hour today and it was disconnected when I came back.

It seems the ipod is "timing out" the Airplay connection when not playing music..
