Jul 1, 2015 3:16 PM in response to Glenn Leblancby whsiii,Thanks for your help Glenn, but I've been fighting alligators since I first tried to install 10.10.4
I was able to download the "combo" update, but when I tried to open it, I got a message "checksum error", and that's that.
All at the same time, my hard drive has a "SMART failing" diagnostic, so I've made an appointment at the Apple Store for this Saturday.
At one point my Mac would not even boot, but I've started from a USB 10.10 install stick and was able to erase my disk and restore from my Time Machine Backup. As reassuring as that is, I guess my hard drive's days are numbered.
On top of that, I was able to update my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.4, but can no longer join my wi-fi network, like my iPad does with no problem. It keeps saying "incorrect password". I see there's community traffic about that from way back, but no definite solution. I'm going to call my ISP for advice on some things I don't understand on the router.
Two days lost so far. I'm really getting tired of fighting problems that have no solutions.

Jul 1, 2015 4:08 PM in response to whsiiiby Glenn Leblanc,Seems like a string of bad luck. Hard drive failure. Now you have problems with your iPhone update.
Now my wife's computer won't boot up. Never even did the update yet. Guess the bad luck is spreading.
Good Luck
