Q: GPS data not available to apps after iOS 8.3 update

I'm using a Wi-Fi only iPad with remote GPS connected via bluetooth (Bad Elf GPS Pro).  Following update to 8.3, the GPS position data from the Bad Elf receiver is not available to other apps on the iPad that require it (in particular, Seattle Avionics FlyQ efb).  Bad Elf bluetooth connection is good, and the GPS position data is displayed on the iPad using the Bad Elf accessory app, but it appears to not be available to the FlyQ app.  Spent hours with tech support and other paths trying to fix this problem, including reloading iOS 8.3 update and applications, and even bought a new Bad Elf GPS receiver.  I think this is a fairly common hardware/software combination (Wi-Fi only iPad, Bad Elf GPS, FlyQ app) for private aircraft pilots, so would expect others to be seeing the same problem (unless they were smarter than I was, and delayed updating their OS).  Have others experienced this problem or found a solution?  Quite frustrating, as navigation is the primary use for my iPad.

Sorry, having multiple issues today with a Windows server, did not pay attention. Have you tried it? Are you headed skyward?

Bad Elf may have been not great but at least they communicated. I got a big fat nothing from Dual. The XGPS160 appears to be working this morning with 8.4 installed But can't be certain until away from WiFi sources.

It's working for me. I turned off my wifi and then turned on the BT. I'm also in LA this week, away from my home airport. So as soon as the bluetooth icon showed a connection I fired up my EFB app and it correctly placed me on the spot I'm at in Smell-A. Finally!

I'll never again upgrade to a new version of iOS for at least 60 days, or even longer, after a new release to ensure any and all bugs are identified and reported by hardware OEMs. Heck, since I use my iPad almost exclusively for flying, if everything is working as it should then I won't even bother upgrading unless my app or hardware vendors say I should.

Looks like 8.4 did not eliminate the double capitals stutter effect:

    "WWorked for me . . . "

    "JJust downloaded . . . . "

Plenty more examples from personal experience. Still, it won't stop me from going flying so I won't lose any sleep over that one.

There is no way 8.4 could have fixed that error, it is a Jive software error. This forum runs on Jive software.

I still have issues with 8.4.1.  GPS works great, and most ads-b works, but I can't get FIS-B weather to come through and display on the iPad.  I've worked with the software vendor (FlyQ - Seattle Avionics) over email, and tried everything that they had on it while sitting within 20 feet of an ADS-B transmitter at the local airport, but I have to give up at this point.  It worked fine on iOS 8.2, I broke it when the 'bad' 8.3 came out, rolled it back to 8.2, and it worked.  Went to 8.4 and lost FIS-B, and haven't seen it since.  And Apple won't let it roll back to 8.2, so I now have a $500 GPS unit that is crippled because Apple won't let me roll back to a functioning version.  I see a Jailbroken iPad in my future.
