Q: Do Apple Music and Apple TV work together?

I have just subscribed to Apple Music and I was wondering how it would work on my Apple TV. Looking at the iTunes menu on my Apple TV did not show any headings for Apple Music. Does anyone know if there is any functionality for Apple Music on the Apple TV?

Mac Mini (mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

It works fine for music here, but it's a little buggy and video clips don't stream to apple tv (only the sound gets through).

    Thanks Cdude996 ,

How did you get Apple Music to work on your Apple TV? Was it via Airplay or through iTunes or another method?

I use either my iPad or iPhone.  Play your desired song and then drag up the music player from the bottom of the screen; you should see the Apple TV button there. if that fails, just use the control centre to enable Apple TV streaming.

    Hi foxcub 6,

I think you have a similar problem to me, I think? Can I suggest that you go to my original post and click the “I have this question too” option? At least this problem will be recognised for two people. Thinking about your situation it seems to me that your iPad and iPhone are running the latest version of IOS which is 8.4 which is supposed to support Apple Music but Apple TV is running iOS 6.4 which is quite old but that’s the latest version for Apple TV. So I think for both you and I and anyone else with an Apple TV the answer is until new software for Apple TV comes out it won’t support Apple Music. Makes me think Apple will update the Apple TV soon. Does this seem like a reasonable guess at what the problem is?

    Thanks!

I’m using a Mac Mini as I don’t have any iDevices. The equivalent button to the one that brings up the Apple TV on a Mac is a little speaker icon in the control bar of iTunes. I click on that and I can choose Apple TV as the remote speakers. That itself is useful but it won’t let me control Apple Music from my Apple TV. Guess a software update or hardware replacement is on its way.

I agree ... same issue here.  Just to clarify though, did you say that your Apple TV software version is 6.4? Mine is 7.2
