Q: My recent calls appearing on another iPhone!?

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

It's your choice, and you will have to deal with the problems that go with using it that way.

    Have a nice day.

I Had the same problem but I believe I found the solution.

Go into Settings/Facetime/You can be reached by Facetime at, and deselect your email, just leave the phone number selected. I've been trying this for a week now and none if my wife's calls show up on my phone or iPad, and vice versa, none of my calls show up on my wife's iPhone or iPad.

That's the reason there is this thread. There was no problem until apple changed something. Now there is a problem.

In all reality you are correct about the single user ID comment as it pertains to icloud (introduced 2011). The difficulty I believe many users are having is that multiple users to one ID worked fine under mobileme (and icloud up until 2015). As for those old enough to have been using apple for the past 8 years, they have established a system for which there was no alternative in the early years. To be honest it's only with Family Sharing that this is being addressed by apple. My only annoyance is that it's a cumbersome fix for those already set up sharing their ID over a number of devices. Plus many (like myself) do not want their children to have an account with apple. Take a normal family of four. Everything working smoothly from one account. Now my wife needs an account with payment details (another account to keep track of), my daughter needs an account (I now need to enter credit card details for a credit card I have no intention of using even thought my debit card doubles as a credit card) and my son needs an account (repeat my daughter's set up steps). I imagine once they turn 14 their account will be blocked until their create their own account with payment details.

All this because my calls log is appearing on my wife's iphone!

My preferred solution would have been for apple to allow me to add up to 6 devices to my account. This would have been simple. I log into itunes add the six devices (in my case 4) and all is working smoothly. Some may argue that this is what apple has done but they haven't . Apple have allowed 6 family account to connect to one account, but the separate accounts are needed. For what purpose I ask myself. None except possibly apple looking to increase their income and harvest more contact details. I see no need of family sharing the way it has been set up. Each iOS device has it's own ID which is sufficient. It would have been far more customer friendly to allow people to add all their devices to one account, but apple have purposely not allowed this. This is a real shame.

    Have a nice day!!

TThat's true, but my iPad is normally on the same network as my iphone, so I don't see a reason to be available through my email.

I am having the same problem. I just noticed this issue tonight. I am a child in the family and began to get all my mom's missed call feed. I attempted to make my own iTunes account prior to this happening and my mom told me to get back on the family iTunes. I was not experiencing this issue which bothers me quite frankly until tonight. Our ID is off for messages and FaceTime. Therefore, they do not transfer to one another. It is only the missed call feed. The actual calls do not appear on the other phone, just the feed. Our iCloud is set to allow only contacts backed up between devices. (besides apps, music, vids) My handoff is off and I am not quite sure about my mother's handoff. However, my brother is also on the same iTunes account and is not experiencing the issue. If anyone has any true solution besides saying to make my own iTunes account, please inform me.

I had the same issue but found a solution. It happens only when you guys are on the same wifi network. On your phone...  Go to Settings => FaceTime => Turn off....iPhone Cellular Calls.  You can still use the same id for the phone and issue solved

IF you read the complete thread you would know that you are wrong. I was at work when it was doing it and am sure my wifi doesn't travel twenty miles away.  As for my issue it has been resolved now for a few weeks. look at my previous threads to find out what I ended up doing.

I have had this unfortunate problem since iOS 8.1.

My calls on my iPhone 5S were showing up on my wife's 4S but not vice versa.

Upgraded to iOS 8.4 and still had issue.

Tried each of the suggested solutions and one worked!

Turning off Apple ID for use with FaceTime worked.

Something to be aware of if you are looking at the Family Sharing option. Family sharing does not automatically share all your apps when set up. Developers must agree to the family sharing. If they don't then you need to repurchase the app for that device. Also, in-app purchases also don't seem to transfer and in many cases need re-purchasing. All-in-all, family sharing is not the way to go for a trouble free family sharing environment and it will most certainly require you to shell out more money.

I still see absolutely no point in apple syncing call histories. Unless you are wealthy enough to keep an iPhone in every place you are likely to use it and want to be able to have the same call log on each device, I see no purpose of this function. I know no-one who owns more than one iPhone for personal use.

I use it constantly. I can initiate and answer iPhone calls from my Macbook Air, my Macbook Pro and my iPad. Having the recent list makes it easy to return calls from any device. So I see a definite point in the recent call sync feature.

Can't argue with that! I never make or receive calls from my Mac or iPad. Don't want the intrusions, that's what my iPhone is for.

Perhaps apple can create a way to turn this feature off, especially on other iPhones? Maybe it's less likely that people want to answer and make calls on other iPhone's than their own?

So even with the most recent update to 8.4, it appears the problem still persists.  Has anyone found a solution yet?

Stop sharing an Apple ID, and turn off FaceTime cellular calls.

It isn't fixed because it isn't broken. It's a feature and it's designed to work that way among devices sharing an Apple ID. However, a workaround is to turn off iPhone Cellular Calls in Settings/FaceTime and turn off Handoff in Settings/General on ALL devices sharing the Apple ID.
