Jul 1, 2015 6:45 AM in response to rajpal.saini85by a brody,That's impossible. Yosemite will only install on certain Intel CPU Macs. The Powerbook is an IBM/Motorola/Apple CPU known as a PowerPC.

Jul 1, 2015 6:48 AM in response to rajpal.saini85by a brody,Mind you there are certain Intel CPU Macs which support every Mac OS X 10.4.7 through 10.10, and can be partitioned to have a copy of each of the main operating systems as long as there is disc space:

Jul 2, 2015 7:58 PM in response to rajpal.saini85by a brody,If you want 10.10, read the specs on this page for 10.8 and above:
Mountain Lion 10.8 Updating requirements
You can buy used and refurbished Macs that support 10.10, but the Powerbook can not, and will not ever be compatible with 10.10.

No PowerBook can be part of the solution If you need a newer operating system than OS 10.5.8 you MUST buy a newer Mac. You've already been told this several times along with which Mac OS you can run. The newest PowerBooks are now almost ten years old and are simply not capable of doing what you ask.

Jul 3, 2015 8:32 AM in response to rajpal.saini85by a brody,If you don't need access to the pre-2001 Mac OS 9 applications, you can buy the retail version of 10.5 as explained in this tip https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2275
and apply the combo 10.5.8 update after installing 10.5 (the link is on the tip).
Otherwise you'll want the retail release of 10.4:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2541
And apply the 10.4.11 PowerPC combo update after getting the retail 10.4.
Either of those will give the 17" Powerbook the most bang for its buck. Make sure you install the proper RAM of at least 512MB on the machine if you do upgrade as my FAQ below explains*:
http://www.macmaps.com/badram.htmlNote: you can't install the operating system via USB. You'll need to get the actual optical disc media.
A Firewire DVD burner from http://www.macsales.com/ can also install it if the optical drive is failing internally.
Not all Firewire DVD burners are built the same.
USB can't boot Mac OS X on PowerPC Macs such as the Powerbook.
