Q: Push notifications WhatsApp not work.

Push notifications WhatsApp not work. I only receive them when I open the app. I've checked the settings on iOs and Whatsapp and all is ok. I've also updated to the latest versions. Can you help me?

    Hi Charlotte,

    Hi,

As I said in my previous post, I just bought a new iPhone 5S, and when I set it up I used the back up from my old iPhone (where the whatsapp wasn't working anymore) and now everything works fine. So, I think the problem came from my iPhone 4 itself... So unfortunately, I couldn't solve the problem on my iPhone 4.

I'm actually getting the very same exact issue on my iPhone 6.

No WhatsApp Notifications come through when the app is closed - I have to open the app to view the latest messages in the Chat menu.  The weird thing, is that when I then close the app, it will work for a short time (if a chat message comes through), I get notified, but then, after about an hour, I get NO notifications again.

Last night was an even stranger thing - a chat message came through (because I saw it on my wife's iPhone 5 and we were both in the same chat group). My iPhone 6's screen lit up (from being asleep), and so I thought I had received a notification of something, however, when I then looked at the screen - it was totally blank - no notifications whatsoever??  When I checked my wife's iPhone 5 - there was indeed a new chat message......??

Haven't tried soft resetting the phone yet so might give that a go first. I am NOT prepared to 'Erase ALL Content & Settings' as suggested by the WhatsApp customer services help team though.

I fixed my phone that had the same problem yesterday

Settings -->iTunes and App Store--> Log out--> shut down the phone.

Restart the phone and Whatsapp was back to normal with Notifications.

    I finally fixed it guys!

    Just follow these few steps:

1- Go to Settings --> Notifications --> Whatsapp

2- Turn off Allow Notifications, Badge App Icon, Show on Lock Screen.

3- Open Whatsapp app, for few seconds, then close it. (You may see a screen telling you how to turn the notifications on)

4- Go back to notification settings and Turn on everything we've turned off.

I think this way, the whatsapp gets new device token and this will fix the issue.

    Cheers!

Within the Whatsapp app I tapped on the settings icon at the right bottom corner, then on Notifications.

At the very bott of the section i tapped on "reset all notifications"

    As simple as that.

I found this solution for a friend who runs the app on an IPhone 4s with iOS 8.3.1 running

It still seems to have some issues randomly but repeating this procedure fixes it every time.

I hope this will help you all as well

This worked for me. I also did this for the Telegram app which had the same problem and which is now also solved!

    Thank you. Best.
