May 4, 2015 4:08 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by Meesh2323,I am having the same sort of problem. My apple watch is giving me a minute for standing when I am actually sitting. Also at times when it reminds me to stand I stand for 5-10minutes and it doesn't alert I have done so. Unfortunately it makes you question the "exercise/activity" function that the watch is supposed to be measuring.

May 4, 2015 4:16 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by Winston Churchill,It's not really about sitting versus standing, you need to do a little moving around as well. I usually find that getting up and going to make a cup of coffee or something of that nature is quite adequate in order to achieve my stand goal for that hour.

May 5, 2015 12:03 AM in response to BonaHoTep1by Douglas Bailey,Haha. Sad but funny. I don't have a standing desk but I find that just standing (on demand) and then leaning down to my keyboard doesn't cut it. I also have move around for a short while.

May 13, 2015 8:57 AM in response to BonaHoTep1by esttateaste,Same problem here. Standing all day and the watch keeps telling me to stand up for a few minutes. How do I stand up when I'm already standing? :-P

Apple TVWe've answered the question you need to stand and move, not just stand.

May 16, 2015 2:05 PM in response to Winston Churchillby BonaHoTep1,This is not an "answer" the health benefits of standing desks are due to "standing" not moving around at your desk for one minute in an hour. The benefits of standing for 4-5 hours a day even relatively immobile are far greater than doing a little shake for 1 minute 12 times a day.

May 16, 2015 2:33 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by Winston Churchill,It's a stand feature, not a stand desk feature, it works exactly how it says it does. I actually think you need to get away from your stand desk too, you are kidding yourself if you think standing still for hours on end is good for you, but that's another matter, this app is nothing to do with stand desks, it's to get you up from sitting and have you move around a little, to that end that's exactly what it does.

May 18, 2015 10:46 AM in response to Meesh2323by c59885ill,I thought it was an issue also until I started to swing my arms more prominently when I walk. Before, I would walk upstairs and back and forth for almost 5 minutes with no "credit". Now, it only takes me about 30 seconds to get the Watch to recognize it...and it's because I started to swing my arms more wildly as I walk when I'm prompted to stand.

May 21, 2015 9:54 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by charmingpilot,Yes. I'm having the same problem. In addition, I get "stand up" reminders at 10pm. These are serious design flaws. I suspect that this will become a "throw away" App for most people and that there will far better Apps for activity tracking that come out from 3rd parties. Be patient and wait for the developer community to come to the rescue!

Not me. I find it helpful as I tend to get too absorbed at my sitting desk and the reminder to stand up and walk around is helpful, and hopefully healthful.

Jun 10, 2015 7:59 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by edteck,I have a standing desk. Same problem. Perhaps "Stand" is the wrong prompt. It should say move your arms more.

Jul 1, 2015 12:58 PM in response to BonaHoTep1by HollywoodGuy,Yeah, also have this problem. I have a standing desk, too. PLUS, I have a TREADMILL under my desk that I use most of the day.
I'm in motion for hours on end and had to quickly shut off the "Stand Up" feature (and, frankly, most of the other Health features, since it doesn't record any of my steps) because my wrists are on the desk.
Oh well, I'm going to investigate using the Nike pedometer and see if it integrates with the Health app.
