Q: Icloud music library not activating

When I try to switch on Icloud Music Library it switches back off within a few seconds automatically.

I've tried all the methods so far: airplane mode, remove/add my account, reboot, closing Music app, disabling Wifi.

Country Romania.

I even contacted Apple Support, they had no idea about this..strange.

I see no error message, just the switch going back off by itself in a matter of seconds.

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4

We all have the possibility to switch the country to our account in one way or another - but we're looking for an official resolution. Switching country has downsides (developer accounts, purchase history, different pricing policies, iTunes gift cards etc )  . Historically Apple has always imposed restrictions to music related features  - and since it was advertised that these restrictions will become irrelevant with the arrival of Apple Music, a lot of people got very excited. You can imagine now that there is a major disappointment since in practice we're still restricted. Even more so then before since now we're unable to even save the music in playlists - a basic feature. This needs to be fixed quickly - or at least an official explanation provided for the discrepancy between the online product presentation and fact.

Hey , just finished talking to an apple consultant .

The service (icloud music library) is officialy launched in romania and it will be available .

There are some technical problems regarding the service in romania . They are working on it and in the next weeks the service will be fully functional .

I also asked if the problems are because of the laws in romania and the answer was NO , if there would be some legal problems the service would't be launched and advertised in the first place .

    Cheers guys ...

That information from the website is outdated. Radio works now in Romania also. Not only Beats 1, but all other standard stations.

There isn't any legal problem with Apple enabling offline listening, otherwise services like Google Play Music, Zonga and the others would have had the same problem. To me it's just sloppy work.

Romania is the only country where Itunes match is not available: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204956

I didn't have the patience to read all previous posts, but this is outrageous.

I called them yestereday and they said they will come back to me in two working days time.

Probably I'll hear from them somewhere around Monday.

    I'll keep you updated.

Hello. I contacted support about this too.I talked with screen sharing and chat last night until 2 am with someone from apple. They said that they will take this to engineering and that in 3-5 business days they will get back to me with this. I hope it will be resolved because otherwise, apple music is nothing without the ability to create playlists and listen offline, even the most poor music service gives you this option. I'll also keep you posted about what they will say to me.

    Have a great day!

Ok so I contacted Apple Support twice today with different problems both related to Apple Music. Here's a summary.

*Both said this is not related to laws.

*Both recalled several reports from Romania on the same issue (I have it too)

*Both said this will be sent to engineering at the end of this day.

Now, aside from the official stuff. Here's a quick tip I "learned". On Wi-Fi this won't work as your connection is too fast and it just unticks the Library back off. Find a spot wtih a bad connection (or use switching to Airplane Mode) when ticking the Library on. This will make it stay on for like 4 seconds. Be sure to have your song on multitasking and QUICKLY add it to your library. It will work, it will stay there, you will be able to create playlists from it. I managed to add 6 songs like that (quite frustrating as it took me 6 mintues) and i did not manage to make any availible offline but... at least I can listen to those as a playlist anytime I'm connected to the Internet

Hope this quick "workaround" will help a few of us deal with the Apple Music Tease suffering...

    Good luck!

Let's hope this gets fixed as soon as possible. Heck, if there's enough of us maybe they'll actually give a rat's behind

Thanks for sharing. However, it should not be as complicated. There are a ton of other solutions out there - Deezer, Rdio just to name a few. So either they get this fixed or be upfront about it and tell us it will not work, or we can all switch to something else. I will not pay for this service in this state, as it would be for nothing. If we can only stream, YouTube is for free and it works perfectly for streaming.

My disappointment is that Apple Support was not ready for this and gave all of us different answers for the same issue.

By the way, maybe it is just me, but let's not even talk about the UI of this service. IMHO it is too complicated and it has a steep learning curve. I find Spotify to be much more clean in term of UI. I just remember the story of the first iPod, where Jobs told them they should be able to get everywhere in the menu with just 3 clicks..... Those times appear to be long gone. But again, maybe it is just me.

victoralexandru -> This discussion is strictly related to a technical problem, it has nothing to do with alternative services or UI discussions which are personal preferences. It is clear that the service has a lot to offer for many and would be the preferred choice due to several reasons that are not to be discussed here - so let's keep it on topic. The important conclusion after several discussions with Apple support is that the problem is one of technical nature and that it is being addressed by engineering at this point. I am eager to hear updates with the ongoing conversation with Apple from the people that have opened support cases .

mpetriu - some were told it is a technical problem and others were told that it should not work as Ro laws do not allow it. I am in the latter category. I called them, offered feedback online and even Tweeted Cue, but nothing so far. It should not have happened in the first place.

The conflicting answers from Apple support were only received in the first day after the launch - and is somehow understandable for a global product launch in 100+ markets, each with it's particularities.  Later on it was clarified by all sources that there is no legal issue, it should work in RO, it's a technical issue and is being currently addressed. Initially the support staff was not informed of the situation so they have guess-timated an answer best to their abilities.  Also expecting to get a reply from Cue at this point is like expecting a reply from Santa . I am not defending Apple - as it's clear that they have screwed up with the RO launch, but I am pointing out that these screw-ups are to be expected and part of a normal process of service roll-out, especially on such massive scale. Be a little patient and all will be cleared out - especially that you are not a paying Apple Music user at this point.
