Photos for Macand all reasonable Mac users also know that iphoto version 9.6.1 works just great on OS X 10.10.3
I have no idea what you are getting at but if you have a question and want help you have to learn to write a clear post with details about your problem and an understandable question

Jun 24, 2015 9:29 PM in response to LarryHNby AngryStamen,Quick question...I was able to download iphoto 9.6.1 via the method described (delete old iPhoto, and download from my "Purchases" tab in the App Store". So, I had not launched Photos, but when i launched my newly-downloaded iPhoto, it said: Your photo library has been migrated to Photos. You can open it in iPhoto, but any changes such as editing or adding new photos will not appear in the Photos app.
I thought that that only happened if I launched and set up the new Photos app...but I didn't do that. I'd like to continue using iPhoto until Apple realeases a few more updates to Photos, but I don't want any new photos I add to iPhoto to not transition to Photos when the time comes. Anyone know about this?

Jun 24, 2015 10:12 PM in response to AngryStamenby LarryHN,No problem - go ahead and use iPhoto - that is just a warning so people do not think that they will see changes made in iphoto in Photos too -they will not because there are two totally separate libraries
When you decide to use Photos then you will migrate the iPhoto library to it at that time

What on earth are you talking about? The part you quoted (NOT properly quoted by the way - perhaps you should learn how to post) was not written by me, but was clearly a quote from someone else - Terence Devlin - to whom I was replying.
The quote in MY post was by justthis9 to whom *I* was replying, who had made a grumpy post about "Mac Users" not apparently realising that Photos had replaced iPhoto.
Perhaps in future you should learn to read topics and the posts within them, before jumping in feet first and making wholly inappropriate comments and suggestions to the wrong people.

Jul 5, 2015 2:25 PM in response to larryluby mc.thompson,I'm going to try and save all my photos on an external HDD and then go back to mavericks. iPhoto won't work on Yosemite 10.10.3 and they removed iPhoto from the store as well so even if there was a version that would work, it's no longer available.
They did the same to macbook air, dropped their FaceTime camera drivers to suit intel in the lion to mountain lion upgrade

Jul 5, 2015 2:32 PM in response to LarryHNby mc.thompson,iPhoto 9.6.1 is not available after you have upgraded yosemite 10.10.3. If I run iPhoto it redirects to the store and the store reports the item is no longer available. Photos is not suitable when shooting with 6 personal cameras, and imported photos from other sources. Not enjoying photos at all. iPhotos worked for me and even though I bought it, I can't use it.

Jul 5, 2015 3:30 PM in response to mc.thompsonby Terence Devlin,As suggested in this thread and many others on the forum:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash.
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Jul 5, 2015 6:18 PM in response to Terence Devlinby mc.thompson,Thank you so, so much, it worked I'm very happy.
I had to close the App Store after I moved if to trash and then go back to the App Store before I could install iPhoto again from there.
