Q: Does recovery continue after the spinning globe animation leaves the screen?

I have initiated internet recovery after a crash. Hardware test checks out okay.  Does recovery continue after the spinning globe animation leaves the screen? I am looking at a gray blank screen.  How long should I let this process run for? Is the process hung up?
