I now have Windows 8 and I cannot connect to my AirPort Express.  Do I need new drivers to fix this?

This also worked for me, on Window 8.1. What an obscure setting though.

WOW!!!  Same here.  It WORKED!  I've been struggling with this for a few weeks.  I have a new work laptop and it has Windows 8.1 on it.  My IT guy and I have been going back and forth to try and figure this out.

    Thanks!!!!!!!

I had the exact same problem running a Lenovo laptop with Windows 8.1, using airport express to extend an airport Extreme wireless network and could not get my Lenovo to connect. Once I followed your instructions to enable FIPS - it worked!!!

    Thank you so very much

I am having similar issues, and cannot find the settings described in the solution.

    Windows 8.1 on a Vaio

Airport Extreme Base Station, connected to modem

    Airport Utility for Windows 5.6.1

I am able to connect to the internet, but computer labels connection "Limited."

Airport Utility does not find the Base Station: all items on the Base Station menu are greyed out.

I do not find "Wifi Status"

    Much obliged for any help!
