Q: HP Photosmart C7250 scanning completely distorted with update to HP Printer/scanner 3.1

I have found after the Jun 18th update to the HP Printer and Scanner software, that while printing is fine, the scanning is completely distorted. No matter whether I scan with the Scanner utility provided by Apple or through Adobe Acrobat. Both are producing -45 degree slanted lines throughout the documents.

I have tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling. I have tried changing networks (the printer is networked wirelessly). I have also restarted the computer after reinstalling the device. I have manually redownloaded the 3.1 update, to see if there was an error in the update, but the reinstall did not produce a change.

What is another option?

P.S. scanning works on all other networked computers locally. Nothing was installed since the update for the HP driver.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

A possible workaround for printer and scanner until the HP printer driver 3.1 is replaced.

This is for Ethernet, printer might work with USB but I do not have a USB cable to test.

No idea what features are missing except scanner dpi resolution.

Find printer IP address by using Setup Menu -> Network

    This worked for printing,

Use printer & scanner preference to add printer via IP address

Select for protocol  HP Jetdirect - Socket

Use (bottom line) Generic PCL Laser Printer

    This worked for scanning.

Use the printer IP address in a browser.
