Q: Photo from PHOTOS App won't drop to Contacts App

I can't click and drag photos from my Photos App to my Contacts.

I hover over the circle, that green circle with a white dot doesn't appear.

Thank you for your help.

You now have to open Contacts, select an entry, click on the face area circle (should show 'edit' when you move the pointer over it), & in the popup select "Faces" from the choices. (This can take a while, so be patient.) You will then get a small window full of tiny thumbnails of photos that match the name assigned to them in Photos. Click one, then click Edit to move/crop to the face you want.

Not very user friendly but supposedly the next version of OS X will offer some improvements of some kind for 'streamlining' Face ID in Photos, which may also include better support for Contacts.

    Thanks for your reply.

So you cannot drag and drop over the contact circle.

I have my photos on my computer and in iCloud.  Contacts edit does not give me the option of choosing Faces.  It gives me the following message: Find and organize photos of people in the Photos app using Faces.  - I already have.

Under the iCloud Photos option it does not download all of my photos.  Super not fun.

Drop and drag is just easy and logical.

So not fun when they take a function away that is so good. :/

    Thanks again for your reply.

Make sure you added Face names to your System Photo Library.

If in that you mean, do I have Faces assigned in my Photos app.  I do.

Still doesn't come up under my Contacts.

Not sure if that's because my contacts is connected to the iCloud Photo library I have too.

All my photos are on my computer, but additionally on iCloud in full resolution.

Not sure how to connect my Contacts to my computer library and not my iCloud library.

I mean click on the link. read what it says, & make sure the Photos Library you assigned faces to is the System Photo Library.

So you cannot drag and drop over the contact circle.

Not from Photos.  However, if you drag the photo to the Desktop and then into the Contacts circle it will work.  Delete the file from the Desktop when done.
