Q: what's wrong with Safari?

When I try an open some very usual sites, Safari keeps telling me "Safari doesn't find the server". It happens even if I was visiting the site a minute before.

If for any reason I refresh the page, it doesn't find the server.

It's been happening for a week or so, it never happened before, and it's very annoying. Chrome seems to be working fine, so it must be a Safari problem.

I haven't changed anything (no new hardware, no new software, no nothing).

I've trashed the cache.db file but it hasn't worked.

???

Thanks for any help.

Make sure your OS X software is up todate.

Open the App Store then select Updates from the menu top of the App Store winndow.

If there are no updates available, might be a cookies, extensions, or plug-ins issue.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.

    Click:   Remove All Website Data

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
