If you are having an issue with AirPlay getting interrupted, there are a few things you might try to improve the connection. See this article - Get help using AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
The article is mostly about iOS devices but this section applies to computers as well -
If your playback is interrupted, or you have network lag
You might notice these issues if you have a weak Wi-Fi signal or interference from a different device, like a microwave or baby monitor. Try these steps:
- Make sure that you're using the recommended settings for your Wi-Fi router.
- Move or turn off other devices that might cause interference.
- Try connecting your Apple TV directly to the router using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Thx for your answer , but : My question mentions iTunes 12.2.0.140 , which is OSX as you know , so the equipment line was missleading , should state Mac Mini , not iPad Mini . My fault, sorry .
Since its working if Airplay is used for all audio outputs ( aka system sound output to airplay ) it cant be a router problem . I rather think we have a coding bug , which loads up memory until it crashes it and sound connection fails through iTunes Airplay.
