Q: Music obtained thru Home Sharing on earlier computers won't play on my latest laptop. Why?

I have obtained music tracks many years ago through Home Sharing with an old Apple ID and although the tracks are still listed in my iTunes library on my 2014 MacBook Pro, they will not play without signing in under the old ID. Unfortunately, I have no record of the old ID password. All these songs still play on my old iMac and MacBook Pro without requesting the old Apple ID password. Is there a solution to this or do I have to re-purchase the tracks?

I'm not sure I have an answer but, my guess is that the old computers were authorized when you were still using the old Apple ID. I just got a new computer myself and had to authorize it or the computer that you home shared with was still being used.  I don't have a solution for you. I would recommend re-purchasing the tracks unless someone else knows how to make this work. This is one of the reasons I miss CDs.

Thanks Paul, but from my point of view, re-purchasing is not an option as there are 100+ Home Shared tracks that are playable on two of my computers but not on the third, the latest addition. Because 2 computers can play these songs, there must be something simple that I've overlooked to enable the new computer to play them as well. Surely.
