Q: We have an iMac and an iPad.  The software of each is up to date.  I loaded some new photographs onto the iMac and they were immediately copied to the iPad.  I then edited them but these changes (mainly rotation) did not translate to the iPad.  Why not?

We have an iMac and an iPad, the software of each is up to date.  Photographs loaded onto the iMac were copied to the iPad but when I then edited the stuff on the iMac, the changes - mainly rotations - were not copied to the iPad.  My wife then carried out the same edits on the iPad and the system then copied the previous, unedited, pictures back to the iMac and I had then to delete them.

Clearly, we're doing something wrong as we shouldn't have to go through all this wardance: can you tell us what?

Wtihout knowing which photo application you use or the version of OS X installed on your computer it is difficult to guess. When you load the photos on the Mac which app do you use, iPhoto or the new Photos app released with Yosemite 10.10.3? If you use the new Photos app, then ensure iCloud is activated for all  your devices and that the photos are selected in the system preference for iCloud on both the iPad and iMac.
