Its a scam just turn off find my iPhone in settings
Then Restore to Factory Settings .
If selling iPad / iPhone then its ready for new owner to set up.

If you're feeling really paranoid, delete the info you're concerned about, write over it by filling your iPad up with 'junk' info (such as movies or the like, data that's not yours), then do the erase all content and settings.
The more you 'write over' data, the harder it is to recover. You delete your into and write over it, you've made it harder to recover

LIke I said, I wanted another opinion on those "reports" that you need specialized wiping software.
