Jul 15, 2015 3:15 AM in response to Ocean 17by djm3lody,@Wyrmfire Thnxs did the trick for me as well. Will renaming the (Captive Network Assistant File) affect any other programs or the OSX itself?
-
Jul 15, 2015 3:18 AM in response to djm3lodyby Wyrmfire,No, it just affects the corporate login system where the popup is used by the corporate network to display the username/password initially when first connecting in.
If you're just on a standard wifi network it won't cause you any problems.
Following Apple fixing the issue and if you use this type of network at work, you can just rename the file back to its original name anyway, which is why I suggested renaming instead of deleting the file (in case you need it).
Regards,
Wyrmfire

Jul 15, 2015 3:19 AM in response to Ocean 17by TakingaBite,Same problem on my MacBook Pro, OS X Version 10.9.5. Nothing has changed on this machine, the problem (pop up screen) started this morning. My iPad mini and iPhone also seem to be experiencing problems keeping the wifi connection but my Microsoft laptop is working OK.
I wonder if this is an attack/hack on Apple or if it is "agile" or "rapid" development (i.e. cut corners during development and let the users do the testing). -
Jul 15, 2015 3:23 AM in response to TakingaBiteby Wyrmfire,Take a look at my earliest post about it, it's at least a temporary fix for you.

Jul 15, 2015 3:28 AM in response to TakingaBiteby Mad-Jack,This is NOT an Apple only problem. It is affecting Android phones too. Read Wyrmfires post, it does solve the issue on a mac.

Jul 15, 2015 3:50 AM in response to Wyrmfireby RiNkY,You're a life saver @Wyrmfire. This seems to have happened today after I installed the 2015-001 EFI Update this AM. Before that - everything was working just fine.
Thought I was going to have to try and force Yosemite on my poor 2012 Macbook Air to fix. Hope they come up with a longer term solution tho - rather than renaming that file. I have yet to test if my VPN connection to my office in the US will work, as I'm currently in the UK.
Out of interest - I wonder if this is just hitting UK users?
Edit to add:
Tested VPN and RDP into my Arizona based computer from UK. Seems to be working just fine. Yayyy

Jul 15, 2015 3:47 AM in response to Ocean 17by Rudi Horemans,Made some ad hoc changes in Airport utility. Reboot Airport Extreme.
Reset the previously made ad hoc changes to normal status. Reboot Airport Extreme.
For me this made the pop-up go away.

Jul 15, 2015 3:49 AM in response to Ocean 17by sauljaffe,Just another data point: This started happening to me too today. I am running Mavericks (10.9.5) and I haven't updated ANY software on my machine in over a week so I know it is nothing to do with any update. Someone, somewhere, screwed up badly... and hopefully whoever it was will fix their mistake. In the meantime, the solution for Macs posted in this thread (renaming that file) seems to work - at least for me. Many thanks to Wyrmfire for finding and posting the fix!!
