Q: Lost all Photos after Upgrading to Yosemite

Yesterday, I upgraded my PC to OS X Yosemite 10.10.4 from Mavericks

Today, I opened the new "Photos" app to discover to my horror, that none of the pictures that I had in iPhoto were there.

I've read a few forums where it was said you could press Command + Option when launching the software to rebuild the database,

But the only option I have is "Repair" and it only runs for a few seconds and then goes to the "Welcome to Photos" screen.

I have also Right clicked on the iPhoto Library icon in the "Pictures" library and chose "Show Package Contents" and I don't see anything that looks like my pictures.

To my shame, I did not back up to an external source before the upgrade.  Do I have any options, or are my memories lost forever?
