Q: has anyone had any problems opening iPhoto on the OS X version 10.9.5

Im using the OS X version operating system on my mac with iPhoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)

All of a sudden the application won't open

I know the photos are all there as they have loaded into iMovie.

Has any one else had this problem and how did they solve it

There are many possible reasons why the app might fail. What happens when you try?

TThank you for sending me a suggestion. And anyone else who did as well. I wanted to back up my photos before I tried anything, I have a time machine but thought maybe I would back up to a DVD as well. I shared with iDVD and what ever was wrong or not working seemed to be cured.
I Don't know how or what was wrong but it seems to have fixed it. I've shut the whole computer down and bought it back up again and iPhoto is still okay.
glad I didn't have to do a restore or anything like that.

Just to let you whats was happening when I clicked on the application it bounced as usual then I got the white dot and the menu in the top bar.
but it wouldn't open and load the photos.
my husband had been looking at them and dragging photos to the desk top he wantwe to print. He didn't know what or if he had done anything to cause it but as above it seems to be sorted now.
