Q: where can I find OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks

I currently have OS X 10.8.5 and need to upgrade. I am trying to find OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks, I've seen it on other sites but don't know if it's legit.

I don't like the reviews I'm seeing about Yosemite. Can anyone help with finding Mavericks?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

It's only available if you previously downloaded it from the Mac App Store or if you got a Mac which originally shipped with it; otherwise, Apple removed it when Yosemite came out.

You cannot upgrade from Mountain Lion to Mavericks. Only to Yosemite. There is nothing wrong with Yosemite. Apparently, you did not read the reviews of Mavericks.

I've seen tons of reviews where people say that they lost all of their photos when they upgraded to Yosemite. A large part of my job deals with photos and I can't risk losing them. The things I hear about Mavericks would not have affected my ability to do what I do the way Yosemite would if where to lose my photos and have to reinstall them.

The reviews I've seen about Yosemite all seem to have issues with losing photos and other storage issues. A large part of what I do has to do with images and video. Losing any of the things I have stored would devestate my business. Even having to reinstall them would cut into a large portion of my work time.

What has been your experience with Yosemite?

Back up your data before proceeding; regardless of which OS you're upgrading to, the possibility exists that something may go wrong and cause some or all of the data on the internal drive to be lost.

The point specific to Yosemite is that it installs Photos; versions of iPhoto prior to 9.6.1 aren't compatible with it.

I didn't lose any data when I upgraded.

    Hi Tafiq1971-

I'm in the same situation as you were, needing to upgrade from Mountain Lion 10.8.5 to at least Mavericks, which from reading these posts seems to no longer be an option. What version did you eventually upgrade to and have you had any problems?

    Thanks!
