Jul 17, 2015 8:44 AM in response to fdeanby rkaufmann87,OS X 10.6.8 does not support the Photos app, you need at least 10.10.3. What version of OS X is installed on your work and home Macs and exactly which Macs do you have?

Jul 17, 2015 9:27 AM in response to fdeanby rkaufmann87,If they share the same AppleID I believe you should be able to see all the photos on each device. I was able to find an article that may give you some insight into the correct settings.

Jul 17, 2015 9:35 AM in response to fdeanby Old Toad,Yes with iCloud Photo Library.
iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support
You will have to purchase space on iCloud to accommodate the size of your library. Your work computer must be running the same system and have enough space to hold the library.

Jul 17, 2015 9:51 AM in response to fdeanby Old Toad,Be warned that it can take a very long time to upload the photos to the iCloud library, up to a couple of weeks depending on the size of the library.
Another option would be to get a small, portable hard drive formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored.
and carry that between computers. The drives I linked to aren't much larger than an Apple optical mouse. Or there are even smaller SSD external HDs that are available: OWC Envoy Pro mini Full-sized, fast SSD storage that fitsin your pocket. Up to 240GB From: $119.00.
NOTE: both computers will have to be running the same version of Photos.

Jul 17, 2015 9:55 AM in response to Old Toadby fdean,So if I am understanding this right. Each computer houses the files? Or are they on the cloud. I am not looking to download the all the files just look and post them when I want. I do have lot's of room from Apple.

Jul 17, 2015 9:59 AM in response to fdeanby LarryHN,Sort of
All of the photos including the originals are on iCloud Photo Library - each device that is using the same iCloud Photo Library (same Apple ID) has either optimized versions or full sized versions of each of these photos depending on the setting on that device

Jul 17, 2015 10:05 AM in response to fdeanby fdean,So what you are saying is that the files are not on my computer and on the cloud. Unless I download them to each machine. With this said I could be using many machines to edit my library as long as I am signed in with the same ID. Hope I am saying this right and not confusing the issue.
Thank you all in advance for helping with the question.

Jul 17, 2015 10:09 AM in response to fdeanby LarryHN,No
What I said was
1 - All of the photos including the originals are on iCloud Photo Library
2 - each device that is using the same iCloud Photo Library (same Apple ID) has either optimized versions or full sized versions of each of these photos depending on the setting on that device
Any photo you edit on a device will download the full sized version prior to editing

Jul 17, 2015 10:16 AM in response to fdeanby LarryHN,★HelpfulOf course - always have a good, current backup or you will lose everything sooner or later
This operation is not a dangerous one - but using a computer guarantees you will have problems and lose things if you have no backup
