Q: How CAN I REINSTALL iWORKS after I uninstalled it, WITHOUT RE PAYING FOR IT!

I purchased iWorks with my Macbook Pro back in 2010. Later on I bought Microsoft office through my school and decided to uninstall Works. Now I have many documents that I cannot open do to the programs not being installed. HOW CAN I REINSTALL iWORKS WITHOUT REPAYING FOR IT!? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks, Justin

The iWorks apps should be listed on the App Store under your purchases.

If you originally purchased a version of iWork on DVD, the App Store would not have

record of that transaction. Unless you upgraded from an original iWorks in App Store.

There were a few versions available, so you may have bought an iWork '11 or so.

Three single -art app versions from the App Store are sold separately, by name.

Which OS X version does your MacBook have running in it now?

When the Genius Bar replaced my failing hard drive, they didn't give me iWorks.

I thought they would give it to me because it comes with every Mac, but no.

I don't have a transaction record (or something like that) on iTunes because I never had to buy iWorks because IT COMES ON EVERY MAC

Is it possible to restore the older original OS X and its included applications from the internet

if the computer shipped with an OS X newer than Lion 10.7.5? That may mean an attempt to

use a different hard disk drive as a target for such a venture, so as to not disturb a newer OS.

{With a newer computer I recently purchased, which includes certain applications not available

now in Yosemite but were with the Mac, and its Mavericks system, I'm unable to get the free

    update/upgrade version of say iPhoto since it's not in a list of purchases in the later OS X}

If you have a backup (suitably a clone of the full running former system) that, then may be the

only way you would still have what once was standard fare with your computer as it shipped.

Later on, such things as Firmware Update may change the ability of a Mac to boot old OS X.

Sadly when things change they aren't always for the best. And without knowing the extent of

such change, an offer of something new may totally negate what worked well, before hand.

For my newest (December 2014 new-old-stock) purchase, I'm considering a clone on the

second internal hard drive; yet would prefer an upgrade OS X there instead, with its Apps.

Otherwise, the path may be to upgrade the running 10.9.5 to a later system that may or

may not be practical for my purposes. This was a hardware upgrade to use later OS X.

    In any event...

    Good luck & happy computing!
