Q: Moving iMovie (10.0.9) events to external HD
Several years back with older iMovie I moved many events to an external HD to make open up tons of HD space on my laptop. This worked well and when I plug in that external HD these events now still show up in the new iMovie as "iMovie Library 1". I also have an iMovie event Library on my computer that is called "iMovie Library" (2 Libraries one on laptop and one on external HD). The old way
How can i move or copy projects and events to an external drive? (Version 9 and earlier)
was was to click on an event with the command button held down , carry that event to the external HD icon (within iMovie) and that would move it, and delete the copy on the original computer. When I do this now, it seems to copy it but not delete the original. Is this fine? Can I then just delete the one off my laptop? If I have a Project with the media that has been moved, will iMovie know to look for the clips in the external HD?
thanks

Moving an event to a different library should also work the same way with iMovie 10 . See: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov3fa25bae7
However, iMovie 10 stores events and projects differently from earlier versions - events and projects are both in the same library. If you still have iMovie 9 iMovie event and iMovie project folders on your internal drive these will not be deleted (since iMovie 10 does not stop you from continuing to use iMovie 9).
If you do not intend to use iMovie 9 any more these can be deleted.
