Q: Macbook Pro and HDMI Cable.

I just bought an HDMI cable for my 13 inch Macbook pro with retina display. The cable works perfect. Though I have a question on how to properly unplug the HDMI cable from the macbook. Is there a proper way to unplug it? Because right now when I unplug it from my Macbook, the screen does some funny things, like the screen gets sliced and looks broken, but that lasts for a quick second. I was just wondering if that could harm my macbook in the long run and if there is a safer way to unplug the HDMI cable. I use the HDMI cable to watch Netflix from my macbook onto my tv.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
