Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

So, this morning I called customer service. I explained the issue but they fobbed me off and told me to go to a store. They said there was nothing that they could do over the phone. Now, I've been to an Authorised Reseller and they told me to call CS. I call CS and they tell me to go to a Retail Store. Who are the Retail Store going to push me to next?

All I want is a screen that doesn't have faults on it

Na loja do Shopping Morumbi fui muito bem atendido e arrumaram meu monitor em 3 dias. Parabéns Apple. Claro que tenho apple Care.

Does this problem affect 2015 models too? Do these models have the AR coating?

    Hi

I also have the same problem. I started noticing it more and more. I have never used solvents on my screen, I look after my MBP as if it was my own

    child, no scratches etc.

I have now read that it is the Anti-Reflective coating. My MBP is mid 2012 - purchased oct 2012 and i have had a number of MBP's which I generally sell after 3 years and then use the £500 as a deposit for a new one.

    1. How am I going to be able to sell my MBP in this state.(The newton rings/blotches etc start at the top of the screen and run down to about half-way)

2.I purchased this as it was the first retina display MBP (I require a great screen) and I've not had any other problems with previous MBP's.

    3. I feel this is a design flaw in the product and should be covered by Apple (free of charge) after all how again  do I sell this?

4.I rely on Apple - 'getting it right' and consequently pay £2000 for a MBP

Could somebody from Apple please reply and let me know if they will help.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Tony Mason

No one from Apple is here. Ring Customer Support in your country or take it into your local Apple Store. Also never place personal details on an online Forum. Chances are your phone number has already been scammed by many. I will ask for it to be removed.

    Cheers

reading and informing a bit 'online, I saw, almost all those who have this problem, have the MBP early 2013 ... so I think not ... I hope ...

I think those who have the problem say it does not appear until 7+ months after purchase. I'll see what happens by the end of the year.

I've heard of this happening a few times to the 2015 models, but it's not as bad as the 2013 models. You have to give it time as this issue really starts to develop after a year. The 2014 model issues with this problem are growing.  I would just sit tight and see if, when, and how Apple responds to this issue.

    Everyone,

I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro 13' (retina) laptop as well with this issue. I am a loyal Apple fan and I have purchased several apple products through the years. After looking on this forum I realized that there are a lot of people affected by this issue. This prompted me to contact Apple to see if they could assist me in getting my screen replaced. Apple customer care scheduled me an appointment with the genus bar at a local Apple Store. Once there, the Apple tech inspected my MacBook and determined that this was not something he could help me with. He told me that he could replace the monitor but it would cost $450 or so.

I am having a hard time understanding why Apple has not resolved this issue. Paying to get the monitor replaced is the wrong answer. Apple has no problem charging customers top dollar for their products. At the bare minimum, they should resolve issues when it becomes apparent that there is some form of a manufacturer defect in their product.

The only reason why I bought this computer was because I wanted a clearer/ cleaner screen. Once this stain ruinen my laptop, my entire purpose behind buying the computer was void. I would rather buy another computer than invest another $450 towards fixing this one.  I hope someone from Apple can contacted me to help get this issue resolved.

Contact Apple Support in your country. Apple do not answer here.
