Jul 21, 2015 12:34 PM in response to Didoz_Diiby Lawrence Finch,They are not local drives. They are files that contain the edits for photos that you edited on the phone. Windows Explorer is too stupid to recognize them. But Microsoft DOES provide the right tools that do. Just don't use Windows Explorer. See: Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer and What to expect when you import edited photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your Mac or PC - Apple Support

Why do I see so many DCIM folders when I view the iOS Camera Roll from my computer?

Jul 21, 2015 12:51 PM in response to Didoz_Diiby Lawrence Finch,They are NOT local disks. They are eXtensible Metadata files of type .AAE (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Metadata_Platform).There is one for each edited photo on your phone. They contain the edits that you made to photos on your computer. They are small, so they don't take up much storage. If you delete the associated photo the .AAE file will be removed with it. If you could delete it you would lose the edits to the associated image.

Jul 21, 2015 1:24 PM in response to Didoz_Diiby Lawrence Finch,Yes, that's what you see. You see that because WINDOWS EXPLORER IS UNBELIEVABLY STUPID. Don't use Windows Explorer at all to deal with images.
