Know it’s not a virus, but what IS it and how do I get RID of it?  When I’m in Safari, the following msg appears I know it’s a scam, but how do I remove it?  It pops up, I click OK and it pops up again… I just have enough time to dbl click home button to get out of it, but still can’t use browser.  I have already cleared cookies, rebooted and researched web (on desktop unit).  Any assistance would be truly appreciated.  I have an iPad 4 with ios 8.4

Thanks Niel. I had already performed those steps, but performed them again, followed up with a hard reboot.  Started Safari, accessed a website, and BOOM!, got the same dang message. Clicked OK, then real quick dbl clicked home & accessed a different website... no message.  Returned to original website and nothing so far.  One of the ads on the side of the site, however, keeps appearing as a black square with "Loading" in the center with a ring of circles around it cycling.  So far so good, but let's hold off marking "complete" for a while.  It stopped happening for a while yesterday also.  Thanks.  g

    grobin2217,

If it happens again, the next thing to check is your wireless router. It may have been hacked.
