Q: Playlists and music are not syncing (can't add any music to my iPhone now)

The ONLY fix I could find for this was to do a complete return to factory settings.  This means a reset - erasing all content and settings - that will involve setting up as  'A New Watch' and not restoring from a backup.  If you restore from a backup you will only be able to transfer a playlist to your watch 1 time.  If you want to change it to another playlist it will go into the eternal preparing sync mode. That's what worked for me albeit I had to set up the watch again with my preferred apps and glances.  Still worth it for me anyway. 

This is the worst update from Apple, full of bugs, it is getting bad to worse.

Please do not launch it without testing...

Thanks...This worked to transfer a playlist from my iMac to my iPhone, but I created a Playlist on my iPhone and want to transfer it to my iMac. It's not transferring when I sync my iPhone with my iMac. Please help...

Don't do this:

In Settings:Music, I

(1) turned-off "iCloud Music Library".

(2) got a warning that all my music would be deleted (from somewhere).

(3) ignored the warning.

(4) the playlist that I used to use for my marathon training is back on my iPhone.

mission accomplished! My Playlist was transferred (and my music was not deleted).

But...  now I have an extra copy of 3 standard playlists:

Recently Added

Recently Added1 <--- why?

Recently Played

Recently Played1 <--- why?

Top 25 Most Played

Top 25 Most Played1 <--- why?

My Running PlayList

And... I can no longer sort my music by Title or Artist on the iPhone, but I can sort on the MacBook. My 3 month free subscription to Apple Radio will expire long before I sort out my iTunes chaos. anyway...

On my iPhone 6, I go to Music, then My Music (at the top)--but there's no "library" above that--only a choice of "Apple Music" or "My Music."

Meanwhile, songs on my computer are not syncing into my iPhone--though one bought on my iPhone DID sync to the computer!  Go figure!  How do I get the songs to sync?

I have been reading all the replies and have still landed nowhere.   I have an iPhone 6 I just started Apple Music on couple weeks ago.  Everything went ok for awhile, but now cannot sync anything to my phone.  I have restored, I have turned off all I can.  It will not manually sync checked songs.  I deleted my library on my phone and now I can't even get an audiobook on there.

It's showing I only have 3 songs.  I just want to go back to the way it was with no Apple Music

I am cancelling my Apple Music subscription.  Things were fine before I got that!

GOT IT! go to the settings part of the phone and scroll down to "music". Uncheck show apple music-that should do it.

Wow.   Have read through this thread but only once so far and am mildly confused.

I landed here because my phone is missing half the playlists from my desk top.

Am I right that, fundamentally, Apply seems to be ignoring the concept of having a portion of ones music library physically duplicated onto each device (space being the limiting factor).   It may come as a shock to the mavens of Silicon Valley, but I am occasionally in locations without wifi, and still want access to (some of) my music.   Surely the best way to control (serve) that is from the desktop or wherever ones physical music Library is.   Another shock for the genii ... not all my music was purchased from Apple, I do actually have CDS that have been ripped into my Library, and other material legally downloaded.

I see other threads on related topics too.   A lot of material with much duplication.  Presumably much of it is accurate.

Im still trying to sort through whats relevant to my situation.

Has anyone pulled together an authoritative one page "dummies guide to Apple Music and syncing your own Library and playlists"?

The question to Apple is: In the phrase Show Music Available Offline, why don't you add the word Only? You can say that "only" is in a very small font down there. But, who does read that, when the title seems to be clear enough? "Only" is the key word of the phrase, and it's missing

Ok, these workarounds just don't answer a fundamental question/

Without turning iCloud music library OFF (because I've added so many albums via Apple Music since subscribing), how do you add music on your computer in your iTunes library to your iPhone as we used to do via drag and drop?  From what folks are saying here, the only option is to turn off iCloud music library and use iTunes as you used to. But, if you do this, then you can't add music from Apple Music on your iPhone or other device.

The instructions I found to do this with iCloud music library on was to click the ... button and then click "Add To" and then select your device. Then, click on your phone in iTunes and then sync. Out of 10 albums or so, both in mp3 and AAC format, this worked once, and only after converting the mp3 album to AAC. Since then, this has not worked and I can't add anything from my MacBook to my iPhone via iTunes.

I don't want to turn off iCloud Music Library just to manually add music, as that defeats the purpose. I'm going to lose everything I already added to My Music since I started Apple Music. I have mixtapes and albums that are just not available in Apple Music and I want to put them on my phone and use Apple Music. This just should not be difficult to accomplish.

Any new insights on this?
