Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you are missing a shared library. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Jul 23, 2015 11:51 AM in response to mario49by Lostmymusic,Nope. That is not it. I read all of the instructions, and this defies explanation. I set up a shared library in my iMac. There is no icon on the iPad in the Music app for any Libraries. The only place any sharing is happening is the video app, but there, only videos no music.

Jul 23, 2015 12:37 PM in response to mario49by Lostmymusic,That link requires me to pay for support. My equipment is several years old and the updates have created a lessened level of utility. I guess Apple cares less these days than when Steve Jobs was around.

Jul 24, 2015 3:13 AM in response to Lostmymusicby awazleon,Hello,
Same as you. 8.4 remove this feature but Apple support doesn't know :-(
I didn't change any setup on my iMac, just upgrade my iPad to the latest version and bingo, the only thing you can share now is Video, no more music.
I have a link to an article but it is in French :

Sep 12, 2015 12:18 PM in response to awazleonby fogd00d,Exactly same problem here: since the new Apple Music initiative, we no longer see the shared iTunes library for MUSIC anywhere in the UI in the Music app for iOS ... but we continue to see our shared VIDEO content in the Video app.
We have been sharing our pooled music and video from a RAID array, hosted by a dedicated Mac Mini, for a fleet of MacBooks and iPads in a house with two adult tech geeks, and three young tech geeks for years ... so iTunes sharing is absolutely not new to us.
Possibly one of those "oops, we forgot a lot of people were using that feature when we bulldozed Music.app" things.

Sep 12, 2015 2:14 PM in response to fogd00dby MattL211,I Have exactly the same issue. I have a Mac mini that serves three I phones and 3 iPads with music and video and since updating all of these devices we can no longer play any music stored on the mini. We can still access the mini via laptops but this totally defeats the object of home sharing to iOS devices. I feel this is a deliberate ploy to get people signing up to the new apple music service. This needs to be fixed NOW!!!

Sep 17, 2015 11:58 AM in response to Lostmymusicby Homesharingproblem,Exactly the same problem. Home sharing works in videos, but nothing at all in music. What are apple going to do about this?

Sep 18, 2015 12:26 PM in response to Homesharingproblemby Homesharingproblem,FIxed on ios9:
if you do not have any music synced to your device from itunes then the option to select homesharing does not appear in the music app. Sync one music file to your device and the option for home sharing will appear!
